What Blogging Every Day Has Taught Me

What Blogging Every Day Has Taught Me

In case you hadn’t noticed, I published a blog post every single day this month, this being the last one (There will also be a post tomorrow though as that’s a normal posting day). I set myself this challenge mostly just to see if I could do it. My initial worry was that I wouldn’t have enough content, so before the month began I made a list of blog post ideas that I could use. From that I chose my favourite ones and chose when I was going to post them.

With that problem solved, my next worry was whether I was going to be organised enough to keep up with the posts, especially as I was going away for the first week of the month. This meant I had a bit of a mad rush to schedule the first lot of posts as I’d only decided a few days prior to the start of May that this was something I was going to do. Thankfully I managed it and even managed to schedule a bunch of tweets for whilst I was away.

Daily blogging has taught me a couple of things:

I haven’t gained as many followers as I thought I would. Honestly, I thought that daily blogging and the constant promotion of new content would mean a bit of an influx in followers. Unfortunately that hasn’t been the case. I have however had many more emails this month from brands and companies wanting to work with me which is rather exciting. I’m hoping that will continue.

I’ve learned that people like my outfit posts. When I first started my blog these were actually my least popular posts but consistently for the last seven months my most popular post each month has been an outfit or fashion related post. I also ran a poll on twitter asking if people want me to continue posting two outfits a week like I have done this month, and the majority said yes, more outfits! So that’s something I’m going to be doing. I’ll be back up to posting four times a week with an extra outfit on a Saturday (or maybe Sunday, I’m not sure, let me know if you have a preference).

It’s taught me that I’m only willing to post about the things I really want to post. I’d already realised this when I stopped doing regular beauty posts but the fact that I had so many ideas for posts that I didn’t feel I would enjoy enough to make an actual post about made me realise this even more. If I wasn’t excited to share something then I probably wouldn’t do it and then ultimately I would fail at my month of daily blogging. So I made sure every post I planned was something I could turn into a post and something that I wanted on my blog.

I’d love to know if you’ve daily blogged before (or currently do!) and how you find it. Let me know in the comments!
