I’ve completed my NCC home learning course! If you saw my post back in February about how I was becoming a student again (the dream, right?), then you may have wondered how I’m getting on with it. Well, I’m pleased to say that I’ve now finished the Media Studies course and have passed the final quiz. I really enjoyed the experience of learning online. Being able to pick it up and put it down as and when I pleased was great. I.e. when I got distracted by twitter or fancied a cup of tea. It definitely helped that it was a subject I’m genuinely interested in as well. Having to do subjects I didn’t love in school always made them extra tedious.
The format of the NCC website is really easy to navigate, with each module available as a pdf. So you can download and open them up whenever you want! You can learn on your commute, whilst sunbathing in the garden or at the beach. If you’re looking for a way to fit gaining a new qualification into your current schedule then online learning is definitely the way forward.
The course that I chose is the equivalent of an A Level, but I have to say it was much easier than any of my A Levels were. I’m sure my age and the fact that it’s a subject I already have some knowledge of are factors in this but I didn’t struggle with any of it or find it difficult. I did, however, learn some new things, particularly about narrative and story. I found it interesting, and that was the whole point of me taking the course. I would definitely consider taking more courses online, it’s really fun to learn new things!
I’d love to know if you’ve used any online learning courses and what you thought of them!
