What is Home?

“The magic thing about home is that it feels good to leave, and it feels even better to come back.”

Home is where the heart is. Or so they say. I love to travel and see new places, but I’m always glad to be home at the end of it. I like to have my things and my space around me. Hearing the rain falling outside when you’re tucked up in bed, waking up to the sunlight peeking through the blinds. The creaky floorboards and strange but familiar noises, having a specific spot on the sofa for cosy evenings watching TV. These are the things that make a home.

A cup of tea in the morning, a long bath on a Sunday evening with a face mask. That warm and fuzzy feeling of relief when you’re almost there after a long day. Home for me is where I feel safe, comfortable and the place that I always want to come back to.

What does home mean to you?

I moved out of my mum’s house in October after moving back there after university and now I live with my boyfriend and two of our friends from uni. Our house is gorgeous. It makes my heart ache knowing that we’ll have to move out some time as it’s rented and the family that own it want to move back in the future (I don’t blame them in the slightest). We were so lucky to find this house, we almost took another one a week or so beforehand but someone else beat us to paying the deposit. I’m so thankful to whoever they are that we missed out on that house. I’ve always believed that everything happens for a reason.

I want to do a house tour at some point but haven’t quite decided on how or when I’d like to do it. For now, I just wanted to share some snapshots. I hope you like it!
