Stratford Upon Avon is a place that I’ve been wanting to visit for many years. I’m not sure why it took so long but we finally made a day trip over there. It was a lovely sunny day but still pretty cold so after a little bit of wandering and photo-taking, we decided to go to the butterfly farm.
I was very apprehensive because the thought of insects flying at me terrifies me but the others assured me it would be fine and they probably wouldn’t even come near me. Alas, they were wrong. I don’t know if it was because I wore a light coloured top but they seemed to love landing on me in particular. I got a little bit used to it after a while but it still scared me when the bigger ones came towards me. It was a really lovely place to wander around though and it was so nice and warm after being out in the cold.
Once we’d had enough of being attacked by butterflies we had a look around the town some more and got drinks at a café until we were hungry enough for dinner. We went to Wildwood Kitchen for food which was quite nice but nothing special. If you didn’t know, Stratford Upon Avon is where Shakespeare is from and there are some lovely old buildings. Alongside the river would be a lovely spot for a picnic on a warmer day which I think is something we’re going to go back and do some time.
