Another trip to Scotland? I can’t believe how fast the time has gone since we were last in the Highlands but back in January we decided to do the North Coast 500 for our annual Scotland trip. So a little disclaimer, we didn’t actually do the NC500 in the way that it’s set out. It was our original plan but, as with all our trips, we wanted to do it the cheapest way. Generally, staying in one place for a week is cheaper than lots of short stays in different places.
We use airbnb for almost all of our trips (you can get £25 off your first stay if you sign up using my referral link!) so that we can stay somewhere with a kitchen to really reduce the costs of eating out. We chose one in the village of Lairg (as it’s fairly central) so we could go out to each part of the NC500 as separate day trips. Let me know if you’d like a more detailed explanation of what we did each day. We’ve gotten pretty good at making the most of the limited winter daylight so I can make a separate post on that!
It really is a beautiful part of Scotland, it completely surprised us that the east coast is entirely different to the west coast! We’ve been meaning to get up there for a while but always get distracted by the sights further south like Glencoe and the Isle of Skye. I’ve included lots of photos below for you to peruse as well as the vlog of the trip, hope you enjoy!
